Purpose
IHVS is a structured standard for describing and valuing harms in a consistent way. It defines domains, code families, evidence expectations, and report formats. It is not legal advice and does not replace clinical assessment.
Domains and code families
Code syntax: DOMAIN.SUBDOMAIN.TAG.NUM (example: PSY.SLEEP.01).
Evidence expectations
The standard records what evidence exists and what preservation actions may be needed (e.g., CCTV retention windows). It does not assume evidence quality; it records it.
Core evidence classes
Stacking and duplication
Tick-box codes are descriptive. In valuation, avoid double-counting: (1) select codes that describe distinct harms; (2) treat repeated descriptions of the same harm as corroboration rather than additive value.
Start
Use the local-only tool to select codes and generate a report.
