Who I Am

I am John Canoe (Derrick Lynch), an IC3 Black person and street performer. I display artwork on my private property located in the street as part of an ongoing cultural practice. My work promotes better race relations and challenges racism and fascism through peaceful, creative expression.

Context

I do not accuse any individual person and/or police officer of personal racism. However, interactions between Black individuals and the police in the UK may be shaped by institutional racism, as identified in official reports such as the Macpherson Inquiry. This influence can persist regardless of the personal background of any officer present.

Request

I respectfully ask that responses to my artwork take this context into account, and that my right to lawful expression on my property be respected in line with UK human rights protections and the values of a free, democratic society.
